A Look at Pur Water Filters

Pur water filters are used in a variety of products to give you clear drinking water. From pitchers to under the sink systems, you can have clear water for a lot less money than buying bottled water. For any filtration system to work well, you need to replace the cartridges to keep them clean. All Pur products include a safety monitor gauge to let you know when the filter needs to be replaced.

Pur water filtration systems for under the sink models use a carbon block to purify the water. A separate handle allows you to bypass the filter for washing dishes and cleaning. Filters last about four to six months, and the gauge will tell you it’s time for a replacement. Installation is easy, using the sprayer portion of your sink. You can do the job in about an hour. Remove the sprayer and install the faucet tap. The under sink water filter is mounted inside the cabinet under your sink. The biggest part of the job is attaching the T valve to the cold water line. After that, all you need to do is to connect all the hoses, following the enclosed directions that come with the system.

Pur faucet or counter top mounted filters attach to your faucet and are the easiest and least expensive method for filtering drinking water. The unit tips backward, allowing you to use unfiltered water for cleaning and washing dishes. The installation process takes just a few minutes. First you remove the aerator on your faucet and select the adapter that will work with your faucet. Several adapters are included to fit just about every sink. The filter screws onto the faucet and is ready to go. These systems are best for removing chlorine and other chemicals used for disinfection in a treatment plant. They don’t remove microorganisms. The cartridge will need to be changed every month or so, depending on usage, so it’s a good idea to have a replacement water filter on hand.

Pitcher style filtration systems are popular for removing chlorine from drinking water. The Pur water pitchers use a combination of ion exchange and carbon to make your supply pure enough to drink. They also remove cryptosporidium and giardia, which are known to cause illness. An antimicrobial ingredient is used in the filters for healthier water. All pitcher models come with the filter gauge used on all Pur products.
