Using RV Water Filters to Enjoy a Safe and Healthy Trip
When people consider ideas for retirement or vacation, they often consider
recreational vehicles, referred to as RVs, as the transportation to get them to
and from their destination. If you are considering a trip with an RV, one of the
main decisions you will have to make before you go on an extended trip is how
you will provide the RV with water that is safe drink. While there are
general-purpose water filters on the market, you probably should limit your
choices to RV water filters. These filters are designed especially for
RVs and will provide water that is safe to drink.
While most drinking water filters that you can purchase on the Internet or from
department stores simply follow a single process to deliver quality safe
drinking water, those designed to be installed in an RV use a 4-step
process. These filters are similar to those that are installed under the kitchen
sink in your home. However, these usually follow a 3-step process. The extra
step that a water filter in RVs uses, delivers water that is safer to drink and
that is even better tasting.
To install a water filter in an RV, you simply attach the unit to the main water
line using connect fittings that are included with the filter. The filter
measures about two-feet tall and is designed to withstand extreme temperatures.
You can expect to get a long life out of RV filtration systems, but you will
still need to replace the cartridge on a regular basis; generally every six
months. This is an important step to remember because you can cause the safety
level of your supply to decrease if the water filter cartridges needs to be replaced.
Impurities can clog the filter and eventually return to your drinking water
supply. Most systems sold in stores or online do not include extra cartridges so
you will need to purchase these separately and keep them on hand in case they
are needed.
